As pro bono work Harriet joined the Bridport Prize steering group in 1999. The entry numbers were plummeting and the prize was in danger. Harriet redesigned the entry form and anthology, instigated a website and overhauled the marketing and PR. Entries doubled for several years running and it continues to go from strength to strength – now known internationallyas the biggest open creative writing contest – one that has provided the recognition for many poets and novelists to be picked up by agents or publishers and thereby start their careers.
