Children who grow up in abusive or violent families need to know how to live their own lives differently.

Somerset County Council have pioneered a PHSE programme for school-children – raising awareness of domestic violence and teaching children about safe relationships and protective behaviours. This is a 2 minute clip of a 20 minute film used as a teaching aid within the programme.

The actors are amateurs and the script was devised by staff within the Education Support Service, with help from the children themselves. As the entire project was being devised by people without any film-making experience, our role was to hand-hold and facilitate the development process as well as shooting and editing.

The programme has already been adopted in London and the Midlands, as well as within Somerset – benefitting thousands of children each year.
